Reports from Doha suggest that Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani surprised his circles and aides by his insistence and firmness to withstand the Saudi pressure following a decision taken earlier this month by Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and the UAE to break off diplomatic relations with his country.
According to the same reports, he is now intent on declaring a quasi-state of emergency to track down any pro-Saudi opposition groups active in the country and thus foil any Saudi attempts to use these groups to destabilize his regime.
